We are part of a climate action powerhouse
On 14th March 2022, The Climate Pledge welcomed nearly 100 new signatories including the world’s largest container shipping company, Maersk; leading enterprise software developer SAP; the North American timberland company Weyerhaeuser; the largest residential solar company in the U.S., Sunrun; and the leading connected car and audio services brand, HARMAN.
Ground Control joined the pledge back in October 2021 and is now one of over 300 Pledge signatories contributing to over £2.7 trillion in global annual revenues, across 51 industries in 29 countries, demonstrating the collective impact The Climate Pledge can have in addressing climate change.
Jason Knights, Managing Director of Ground Control commented:
In 2019, Amazon and Global Optimism co-founded The Climate Pledge, a commitment to reach the Paris Agreement 10 years early and be net zero carbon by 2040. Now, 312 organisations have signed The Climate Pledge, sending an important signal that there will be rapid growth in demand for products and services that help reduce carbon emissions.
Signatories to The Climate Pledge must agree to:
- Measure and report greenhouse gas emissions on a regular basis.
- Implement decarbonisation strategies in line with the Paris Agreement through real business changes and innovations, including efficiency improvements, renewable energy, materials reductions, and other carbon emission elimination strategies.
- Neutralise any remaining emissions with additional, quantifiable, real, permanent, and socially beneficial offsets to achieve net-zero annual carbon emissions by 2040.
